More Information About UM6P
UM6P Doctoral Day
Organized by the University Mohammed VI Polytechnic, the Doctoral Day is an annual event that aims to bring together doctoral students and senior researchers of the UM6P for constructive exchanges and to bring together various scientific disciplines within the university. It is also an opportunity for students to present the progress of their work and achievements, while allowing them to act as co-chairs and gain experience as scientific panel members. Dedicated to doctoral students, teachers and researchers of UM6P, the objective of the Doctoral Day is to improve the visibility of the research fields within the university. Each selected participant is required to make an oral presentation, including questions/answers, and a poster session.
UM6P Doctoral Journal Club
UDJC is an UM6P initiative that helps PhD students to develop critical thinking skills and scientific research methodology. Through this platform, students can enhance their debating and analytical skills, while also gaining knowledge in non-specialized fields. The club encourages active interaction among colleagues on their research topic, which helps build a dynamic team and develop a process for understanding and critiquing published work. Other benefits include systematic analysis of publications, development of public discourse, preparation for spontaneous discussions and an effective presentation style. Participation in UDJC could be an important step in making UM6P a true multidisciplinary research facility, as it provides a platform for generating new ideas through the exchange of knowledge from different backgrounds and disciplines.
UM6P-SaT Initiative
UM6PSaT is a student CubeSat which belongs to the activities developed by IAP with the support of the CNES (French National centre for space studies). The project has essentially a pedagogical impact to involve students into the nanosatellite technology in order to make and launch their own CubeSat 1U. Throughout the project, students will go across all the stages as the ones for a conventional satellite: pre-design and viability study, preliminary and detailed design, manufacture, assembly and integration, and, lastly, qualification and acceptance testing for launch. And as the procedure takes less time and it's more economic than a conventional satellite, the project remains a perfect learning by doing challenge for the students. Beside the training objective, the UM6PSaT will have a research target to study space radiation and their impact on 2D materials developed and studied at UM6P like Graphene, Black Phosphorus and MoS2 which will be an add-value for the OCP research and development ecosystem. The project started in March 2022 and currently it is in the pre-study phase with the objective to be launched by the end of 2026.
